Tile and glass mosaic on concrete ( 9′ x 6′ x 6′) Basketball Pillar (12’x6’x’6′) Tennis Pillar
The aesthetics of this design combine the realism and color of “pop art” with a classical use of tile and mosaic. The concrete spheres, mounted on top of the cement pillars, are clad with glass mosaic to create the look of a basketball and a tennis ball. On the “Basketball Pillar” are the images of hands “tipping off” the ball, drawings of official basketball signals and diagrams of the game. On the “Tennis Pillar” are players, game diagrams, balls and footwork.
