GLAMORGEDDON  2015
SOMArts Gallery
San Francisco

Glamorgeddon: The Spectacle  brings together visual, media and performing artists in a critical response to and free-form celebration of the concept of glamour. Curated by Johanna Poethig, with co-curators Angelica Muro and Hector Dionicio Mendoza, Glamorgeddon pushes back against the ways in which we consciously or unconsciously accept the logic of prevailing capitalist, media-generated spectacles and examines how glamour has both colonized and empowered us. Glamorgeddon provides a frame, a locality in which the artist and audience can play, celebrate and reflect on the satirical edge of excess inspired by our current moment in history.
