Radio/sound/video/sand/window transparencies/LED signs

An installation by Johanna Poethig and composer Chris Brown for observing time — linear, cyclic, mythic — and defining it through overlapping activities using sound, video, electronic signboards, window transparencies, home built radio transmitters and clock radios. The installation is composed in a one-hour cycle. The sound for this installation came from clock radios arranged as a clock around the centerpiece of sand. The sound is transmitted on 4 experimental radio stations. The video is projected from the ceiling down on to the sand. The windows had vinyl cut with designs that cast patterns onto the floor and made a “light” drawing/mural while LED signs transmitted text relating to concepts of time.
